Furkan Ak

I am an actor, theatre director and writer. My artistic practice is rooted in a transnational and intercultural framework, shaped by my education and artistic journey across Turkey, Belgium, and beyond. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre (Acting) from Yeditepe University (Istanbul, 2016, with High Honours) and a Master’s degree in Drama Writing and Directing from RITCS (Brussels, 2024, with Distinction). My work moves between Turkish and European contexts, where I have performed in widely known national TV series such as Deli Gönül (2017), Bartu Ben and Adı: Zehra (2018), and Savaşçı (2021). In parallel, I have been active in the theatre world—as both actor and director.  My directing and writing practice continues to be shaped by diverse and multilingual collaborations. Notable recent works include Rare Sun (2024, Royal Flemish Theatre KVS Brussels), a finalist for the Roel Verniers Prize at Het TheaterFestival in Flanders; Body Needs Bass (UWE Festival, Munich, 2023); and Ghostly Matters, part of the Future Narratives platform. Recently, I am working on my upcoming VR Performance Ghostly Places, supported by the Flanders Government Emerging Talent Artistic Research Grant.
