Furkan Ak

I am an actor, theatre director, and writer working across Turkish and European contexts. I hold a BFA in Theatre (Acting) from Yeditepe University in Istanbul (2016, with High Honours) and a Master’s degree in Drama Writing and Directing from RITCS in Brussels (2024, with Distinction).

My career spans screen and stage. I have acted in several acclaimed Turkish TV and internet series including Deli Gönül (2017), Bartu Ben and Adı: Zehra (2018), and Savaşçı (2021). As a multilingual performer fluent in Turkish, English, and conversational French, I bring a versatile presence to roles across languages and cultures. My vocal range and training also enable me to integrate singing into my performances when required, adding a musical dimension to my stage work.

Alongside acting, I have developed a strong practice as a director and writer, with a focus on multilingual, transnational, and interdisciplinary collaborations. Recent works include Rare Sun (2024, Royal Flemish Theatre KVS Brussels), a finalist for the Roel Verniers Prize at Het TheaterFestival in Flanders; Body Needs Bass (UWE Festival, Munich, 2023); and Ghostly Matters, an immersive audio walk created for the Future Narratives platform. Currently, I am developing Ghostly Places, an upcoming VR performance supported by the Flanders Government Emerging Talent Artistic Research Grant.
